Random Place Famliar Faces | Belgrade

Long time, no see! I haven't been posting for so long, because life's been interesting these past weeks and it's not easy to make enough time for school, travelling, exercising, friends, my blog and many other stuff all together. Blogging does take up quite some time and so does taking photos with your camera so I always pick the easiest way - my phone. This spring break I travelled to Belgrade in Serbia to visit friends and the city.

One of the first things I noticed of this beautiful city are the graffitis that cover entire buildings! I don't find this kind of art -if done well- bad at all, instead it gives colour to the city.

We went on this really cool historical tower and enjoyed the view of the city from up there. Later we grabbed fresh juice and kept on walking through the streets.
We found this nice café hidden in a corner with these colourful umbrellas!
On the last day we went to this cute café that translated in english was called "Little Passion Fruit".there they served their own special lemonade and brownies that are to die for.
It was nice to see my girls again and Belgrade is such a nice and different (in a good way) urban area. This week has been tiring but in a good way, I've done a lot of productive things, I hope you have too and that your week was just as good xx

This Week's Most Loved | I

I've been meaning to start these posts weeks ago but never had the chance (more like will) to do it. On other blogs I love to their weekly favourites, much more than monthly favourites.
Here, in the northern hemisphere the spring weather has arrived and I finally decided to abandon my beloved dark colours (which I will be wearing again soon in autumn) to change a little and go for lighter and more pastel colours. So here I am, writing about my favourite products of this week.

Let's start with my skin, I don't know what has happened this week, but it's been going crazy. I'm trying to keep it calm with my Fabindia Papaya Face Mask that is an oldie of mine bought on my holiday in India. This mask has really helped clean the clogged pores and to reduce spots and breakouts, this week it has been a complete saviour for my complexion. Moving on to lips (as you might already know I'm addicted to lipstick), I "broke" my New Year's resolution and bought a new lipstick when I shoudln't have. It's a neutral colour so I've been wearing it pretty much for the whole week, it's the P2 pure colour lipstick  in the shade 012, but I think you can only find this brand in Germany. As you probably know if you have been reading my blog for a while now, I'm not a big fan of bright colours, so even for my nails I usually wear black, burgundy and neutrals. But a few weeks back I saw my friend Megan wearing Essie Forever Yummy, so I asked her for the shade and went and bought it. I love it! It's a brighter red than usual, not that grown up red kind (I hope you get what I'm trying to explain). So these are my favourites for this week, I'm really sorry that two out of the three products are probably going to be hard to find but this is what I mostly loved and used.

Empties | I

This month of May I focused on finishing up products rather than buying more, I've been meaning to save up some money for travelling that I'll be doing in the near future (some will be featured on this blog).
I hate wasting products by throwing them away when they're not finished, so even if it's something that I don't like I will try to find another use for it to reach the bottom of it.

It's the first dry shampoo I ever  bought so just imagine how high my hopes were (very). There was not one single thing I liked about this product, it did absolutely nothing for me.
It didn't help keep my hair clean and on top of that the product that came out was white and hard to work in the hair. I didn't enjoy using it at all and I was happy to see that at one point no product came out anymore and the bottle felt lighter.

Bioderma Sebium H20
This cleanser has been a staple for a long time now and I've repurchased it many times. My skin has now gotten used to it so it doesn't help to fight blemishes but it does remove makeup easily without irritating the eye area.

Kneipp Shower Balm
I got this as a gift for Christmas, at first I didn't know what it was but then after reading the instructions (is it just me or is there someone else out there that first uses the product and then reads the instructions?) and this is actually a shower balm. Anyway I liked the product, it has a fruit-y scent to it which I found relaxing.

Biotherm Biosource Instant Hydrating Toning Lotion
I don't really notice a difference between the toner lotions, they all seem the same to me.
I've already talked about toners in my Toning Quatrain post so I won't ramble too much about it; I find that it soothes and firms the skin very well. For now I'm not going to repurchase this toner because I want to try other ones I bought.

Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Eyes
It was a bit of a love and hate relationship, the wand had a weird shape and I didn't like how it made my eyelashes look. I much prefer the Maybelline rocket mascara which is currently my favourite mascara.

I'm happy that I've gone through some empties this month because I always get that nice feeling when I finish a product (I hope you understand what I mean by that).

Have you finished any products this month?

Beauty Tips

These tips are the ones I could come up, some were taught to me by my mom over time while others I have learned over the years from the beauty bloggers and youtubers.

  • To cleanse your skin properly you need to wash it, wipes and micellar waters just don't cut it.
  • Change your pillow cases regularly to avoid breakouts caused from bacteria.
  • Try not to touch your face unless completely necessary to avoid spreading bacteria.
  • Plucking your eyebrows in the bath will ease the pain.
  • Vaseline can be used as a cuticle oil.
  • Don't wash your hair daily, grease can do a lot of good for your scalp.
  • Put conditioner through the lengths of your hair only, never on the roots.
  • Let spots just run their course and keep them clean, the best way is to disinfect them.
  • Moisturise and cleanse upwards to help circulation.
  • Open your mouth whilst applying mascara it helps with blinking.
  • To soak up the smell and sweat in your shoes put a tiny bit of baby powder.
  • An old dry toothbrush can be used to exfoliate your lips.
  • Don't rub your wrists together when you apply perfume it breaks it down and it wont last as long.
  • Water is your skin's best friend.
  • Baby powder can be used as a dry shampoo, works just the same.
  • Feet need exfoliating too don't forget them.
  • Heating up your eyelash curlers slightly will help the curl hold just that bit more.
  • Apply moisturizer to the backs of the hands and neck, they are the first places to show age.
  • Instead of buying a brush for your eyebrows you can use an old mascara wand.
  • A small amount of lip balm on your fingers can be used to fix the flyaway hairs.
  • Always make sure you have washed your hands before cleansing your face.
  • Hairspray can be used instead of gel to keep your eyebrows in shape.
  • If you have a conditioner your don't like to use it after shaving your legs as a moisturizer.
  • To give the effect of fake volumized eyelashes apply baby powder with a brush before putting on mascara.

Toning Quatrain

For a girl who used to scoff at toners, it's pretty crazy how now they have become such a staple in my skincare routine. Stepping up my routine with toners, whether they're exfoliating, refreshing or hydrating, really helped my skin keep the spots 'at bay'. Toners clean your skin thoroughly like a second cleanser and tighten and help firm your skin, giving it a healthy loook. I have some here and I thought I'd share them with you for anyone looking to add to their toning supplies...

When I started using toners my first ones were the lotions- currently I'm using the  Lancome tonique doucer. I find toning lotion super soothing and refreshing on my skin, this meant that my skin has been super calm. Before applying any more skincare I always wait for a few minutes for it to dry on my skin. Another good toning lotion is the Natura RVB toning lotion, which unfortunately was a limited edition or it's no longer purchasable on the internet. Over the past few months I've tried in the shower the Biotherm cleanser toning mousse from Biosource, I use this as a 2 steps in 1 product (for the lazy people like me): cleanse and tone. This foaming toner offers a multitude of skin benefits, including reducing breakouts and clogged pores, softer and more balanced skin. I must say that Biotherm is a trustworthy brand for toners, all the different kinds that I've purchased have never disappointed me, I think it's all about finding the one that suits your skin the best. Currently I don't own any exfoliating toner but the Clarins Gentle Exfoliating Brightening Toner is on my wish list.
I think toning is a step that people often forget, but they really do a big difference to your skin when applied.
Not that my skin is perfect in the slightest, I still have bad skin days, but they do something and nowadays my skin doesn't breakout as much.
