4 Tips on Burning Candles

In the last three years my love for candles has grown massively. I always like to have a candle burning in my room, especially during the cold seasons for a more cozy atmoshpere. Candle prices can vary a lot, you don't have to spend a fortune to get a good candle, IKEA have great cheap ones. At the moment I'm loving my IKEA Strawberry Candle. Over the past couple of years I learned (the hard way) a few techniques on how to burn candles and make the most out of them.

1. To avoid the candle from tunneling you should burn it for at least one hour per session for every 3cm. For example, if your candle has a diameter of 6cm, then you should burn your candle for at least 2 hours to avoid wasting wax on the sides.

2. If you want the top layer to fully liquify more quicker and speed up the process, cover the candle with aluminium foil to keep the heat in. Remember to make sure to leave a hole for the air to pass through.

3. Keep your wick 5mm short, remember to trim after every session as still will cause the candle to burn unevenly and it will produce excessive black smoke.

4. To not use up your candle too quickly, after the top layer is fully liquified blow it off. By this time your room will probably already smell like the candle's scent so you won't need more burning.

Do you have any more tips?
